If you are (or going to become) a real estate agent, you are obviously looking for financial success. Right?  But there is a basic challenge you face. Fewer than 1 percent of all realtors become self-made millionaires.

Humm. But there ARE some really great advantages to being a realtor. Not the least is that you know the market, and  you’re are in a great position to spot excellent investments you can buy and flip. So there could be more than one path to become a million dollar real estate agent!

Here’s the story of a REAL million dollar real estate agent I personally know in a lovely seaside community in California. His story is a classic example of what is possible if you allow yourself to develop millionaire mind power – to learn to think like a self-made millionaire, not just a realtor.

Javier (not his real name, although he is from Central America) was a man with a mission. He had a compelling “WHY” pushing him to success – he wanted to move his sister and brother-in-law and his aging parents to the US. He passed his licensing test and immediately threw himself into real estate sales training and success training.

Straight out of his initial real estate sales training he went from one office to the next to SELECT the office he wanted to associate with.  He then paid for a series of ¼ page ads announcing his new association, and called the local Real Estate magazine to cut a special deal. He offered them rights to follow him on his path to becoming a million dollar real estate agent in only one year.

Was this outrageous? Of course! But the PR he got from this week after week was invaluable. I was interested in buying a new home at the time, and of course went to Javier to find the right home.

He was turning the real estate community on its ear. He seemed to have special millionaire mind power. He joined the country club and passed around a pocket digitized golf score pad embossed with his name, phone number, and his motto – The Millionaire’s Realtor.

Next he announced his own invitation-only seminar at the country club on how to become a self-made millionaire with local real estate. This again was millionaire mind power in action. He immediately BECAME his motto – the preferred local millionaire’s realtor.

Did Javier actually become a million dollar real estate agent by the end of the year? No, he fell short of his goal in terms of commissions. But by the end of the year he WAS one of the most successful and profitable realtors in the city, and had a client list that took him straight to his goal in year two.

So will real estate sales training alone do this for you? Don’t kid yourself. If YOU want to become a self-made millionaire, you need to learn to think like self-made millionaires think!  Javier focused his energy on developing millionaire mind power – on learning to think like, and take the actions of, millionaires. And this took him straight to his goal!
