Life coaching has become one of the fastest growing home-based businesses in North America, and has also spread into Europe, Australia and New Zealand, South America, and Asia.
The life coach lifestyle appeals to those who want to make a living working out of their home while helping others achieve success. This rewarding and fulfilling profession has attracted people from all walks of life, and with many unique areas of specialization.
A life coach works one-on-one with clients to help them discover what is truly important to them, bring out their best, build success skills, and achieve the outcomes they most desire. Like any other personal service business, it often takes about three years to fully become a successful life coach. So what do you do in the meantime? Probably build your practice part-time while you also build your own success skills, and area of speciality.
Ultimately coaching success depends on your own level of personal growth, success skills, and absolute determination. This is NOT a profession where you can “fake it.” You will never keep a client and get referrals unless you first learn how to become successful yourself literally from the inside out.
What does this mean? To become a successful life coach, your ability to identify your client’s problems, excuses, and resistance to growth depends on your OWN ability to identify and deal with your own problems, excuses and resistance.
What separates successful coaches and consultants from those who struggle? Part of it is being equipped to being in business by yourself. Another part is knowing how to market your services and build your business.
The third part is having the personal attributes and success mind power that leads to success as a life coach or consultant, including:
- A level of charisma that attracts other people to want to work with you,
- Excellent communicators and listening skills,
- Knowing yourself well enough to understand and respect the needs and goals of other people,
- Knowing how to inspire others, and
- Truly enjoying working with other people.
As a life coach you can learn practice building and business skills from any number of coach training organizations. But to achieve coaching success you will generally have to look elsewhere to build solid mind power-based success skills.
One method is to work with an experienced coach to further build your own success skills. Another valuable method is to explore many different methods of personal growth and success training. This can greatly expand your success mind power and coaching success skills.
