Change Habits Using the Power of the Mind

You have approximaely 30 billion neurons, the nerve cells that conduct information throughout your brain and down into your body.

It has  been estimated that your brain has  100,000 miles of neural fibers  created as your neurons  communicate with each other.

How Power of Mind Works. Everything making up your power of mind is stored on such physical neural-pathways. Each time you think a thought, it is communicated among your neurons via tiny electro-chemical messages.

The first time you learn something new, a new neural pathway is created. The next time you have that experience, your brain will follow the same pathway. This is how a thought or action becomes a habit.

Then each time you act out that habit, the more physically durable the neural pathway holding it will become.  That is why it is so hard to break a habit. Your habit is wired into your brain as actual physical connections.

Using Mind Power to Change Habits.

If you have  habits you would like to change, start by recognizing the fact that you cannot just  rationalize them away. You will have to create neural pathways that are stronger that the one you wish to change. Two things create strong neural pathways: Repetition, and intense emotion.

You can use your mind power to change a habit by: (1)  Allowing yourself to feel some intense emotion about the habit you want to change, (2) choosing a new positive behavior or thought pattern, (3) associating your new pattern with even stronger positive emotion, (4) rewarding yourself with praise each time you replace the old pattern with the new one, and (5)  repeating this as often as possible.

By doing this you are  creating physical changes in your brain – rewiring the neural pathways that will change that habit.

Hard to Believe Mind Power, But True…

mind powerAmazing Mind Power…

Recently I saw a replay of a remarkable Science/Discovery Channel program about real people with truly extraordinary mind power.

One was a man from the Netherlands they called *the Ice Man.* He has an amazing ability to withstand extreme cold. The program showed him running a half marathon in the Arctic wearing nothing but shorts. Although the temperature was -30 degrees Centigrade, he ran topless and barefoot — using his unusual mind power to survive.

His doctor said they would have to amputate his toes because they were frozen dead.

No problem. The Ice Man simply *willed* his toes back to life using his super mind power. The doctor was shocked, and so was I.

Here’s what the brilliant American psychologist William James said about our mind power:
*Compared to what we should be, we are only half alive. We are making use of only a small part of our mind power. Deep down inside of us are vast powers we know nothing of and never use.*

Want to explore the mind power that creates…

  • Instant deep meditation,
  • Higher states of consciousness,
  • Further development of your native intelligence
  • *Zone level* creativity and intuition,
  • Or simply make your life a more exciting place to be…

Come experience your  natural genius  mind power.

Grow a Better Brain

yourgwomamNeed proof your brain can physically grow?

Here it is:

Sixteen London taxi drivers were given brain scans by scientists at the University College London. Each driver had spent about two years memorizing the vast number of streets and routes in London to receive their licenses.

The researchers scanned the part of the driver’s brains associated with navigation in birds and animals a portion of the hippocampus. They also scanned the brains of 50 control subjects who did not drive cabs.

The findings go against the old theory that mature brains do not grow. One particular region of the hippocampus was bigger in the taxi drivers, explains the research team leader, Dr Eleanor Maguire.

There seems to be a definite relationship between the navigating they do as taxi drivers, and their brain changes, Dr Maguire explains. The hippocampus actually changed its structure to accommodate their huge amount of navigating experience.

Considering we’ve always been told our brains go downhill after age 30 another result of the research is especially interesting! The scientists also found that the hippocampus grows even larger as drivers spend more years on the job. The hippocampus of seasoned cabbies that had driven 40 years or more was more developed.

This is very interesting, concludes Dr Maguire, because we now see there can be structural changes in healthy human brains after age 30).
