The Power of Thoughts

energy_thumbModern neuroscience has established that our thoughts tend to influence our reality. But just how powerful are your thoughts, and what are they capable of doing?

Do thoughts heal?
The power of placebos is a well documented medical finding. The placebo effect occurs when a treatment or medication with no real therapeutic value like a sugar pill is given to a patient, and their symptoms still improve.

What is believed to occur with placebos is this: The patient thinks they have been given something to heal their condition, and because they expect to improve, they actually DO improve.

Bruce Lipton, PhD geneticist and researcher, claims that over 30% of all medical healings and surgeries are the result of the mind-controlled placebo effect. He is also convinced that our thoughts actually control how our genes express themselves.

The case of people with multiple personalities is another interesting example. The physical appearance and even the actual health of people with multiple personalities can actually change depending on which of their multiple personalities is present at any given time. Studies have shown, for example, that one personality may have blue eyes, while the other has brown eyes.

There has even been a case where one personality had clinically serious cancer, while the other personality did not. In short, the thoughts of the personality that is manifesting have an immediate and very real impact on their physical body.

Can thoughts change physical outcomes?
Decades ago psychologists determined that some people can influence the outcome of a coin toss or a roll of dice simply by focusing their thoughts on a preferred outcome.

Similar experiments are currently being conducted by the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research program using computerized random event generators. The subjects focus on using their thoughts to influence the subsequent random number sets. The success of some people is so exact that their results are mathematically equivalent to winning the lottery 9 to 10 times in a row.

Do our thoughts affect other living things?
Years ago biologist Clove Backster began to measure the responses of plants to stress. He discovered that plants DO have increased stress levels during times of danger. If an experimenter threatened to burn a plant with a match, for example, the plant registered a spike on the stress machine.

But what intrigued Backster even more was that plants registered a stress spike even if the experimenter only thought about burning the plant.

Other scientists have conducted studies that clearly indicate the power of thoughts both positive and negative on animals, bacteria, and even living cells.

Do our thoughts affect other people?
Pairs of people have been placed into separate isolated rooms to determine if a stimulation to one will be felt by the other. One person was stimulated with images, sounds, or mild electric shock while measuring the effect on the non-stimulated person.

It was found that both individuals experience similar physical reactions and brainwave patterns during the stimulation even though only one of them was stimulated. Such synchronization of brainwave patterns and physical reactions is not normally found in people who have never met.

There is also growing evidence that remote healing and prayer have an impact on other human beings. In one study, remote healers from various backgrounds sent healing thoughts to AIDS patients. The remarkable results included improved T-cell counts, fewer illnesses and increased longevity.

Can thoughts transcend time and space?
Remote Viewing (RV) is the ability to access and provide accurate information about an item or event that is remote from the viewer. An example might be a person who is sitting in an office in California accurately describing in detail a building in Australia that they have never visited or seen in any way.

Both US and Russian experimenters and many university programs have long investigated remote viewing. Although remote viewing is not 100% accurate and reproducible, there is strong scientific evidence to support it. Russell Targ, the co-founder of Stanford Research institute, reports accuracy of up to 10,000 miles away, and with abilities to describe the past, present and future events for target locations.

Do thoughts truly create our reality?
Add up the above, and it becomes evident that we truly create our own reality, from our physical health… to our ability to influence other people and even our environment.

But there is something else at work here.

That something else is the power of the subconscious mind, which operates much like a movie camera from birth on. True, your thoughts DO create the many aspects of your reality even how your genes do or do not turn on; but it is ultimately the lifetime of memories and impressions stored in your subconscious mind that set the stage for your thoughts.

This underscores the importance of becoming aware of our automatic beliefs and assumptions which rise up from the subconscious mind, and replacing them with more positive and current thoughts.

Solving the BIG Prosperity Mystery

money10Why do some people seem to just soar toward prosperity, while others struggle and never seem to achieve their goals? There’s a mystery about prosperity that many people overlook the secret of where it all really begins.

Where Does Prosperity Begin?
Do you have a desire to create prosperity in your life? Then you’ll want to consider the mystery behind prosperity. The mystery is this: You have to start with one very important decision! What are you offering to give, in return for achieving your goal of prosperity?

The road to prosperity begins with that decision. This is the ultimate beginning of prosperity, unless you manage to win the lottery or inherit money, of course.

Can making this decision pose a problem? Yes. We’re talking about creative thinking on the prosperous level the type of thinking typical of people who ARE prosperous. The challenge is this: What do you do to achieve this level of thinking before you’re prosperous?

Cultivate a Beginner’s Mind
Your mind is infinitely more subtle and creative than you realize! And sometimes it pays to sneak up on it when trying to solve a problem of this nature. What would this involve? Looking for an answer with a totally open and flexible beginner’s mind.

Suppose, for example, you’re an expert in vertical take off and landing aircraft. And perhaps you’re searching for a new, creative approach to hovering you can sell to the aircraft industry.

Obviously you could drag out technical texts and the latest journals in your field and pour over them. That would be a good starting point. But suppose you instead chose to be a beginner, and make the assumption that anything is possible regarding hovering your key to prosperity.

I wonder what insight might come to you if you asked yourself how a mosquito approaches hovering or how a speck of dust manages to weightlessly float in the air current above your desk?

Is it lighter than the air? No? And yet it floats and hovers. Since you are a beginner, can you assume your aircraft could do the same thing? Could it defy gravity?

Another approach is to pick one common assumption in your field that everyone subscribes to. What if they are all wrong? What if the truth is the exact opposite. Black is white, and white is black.

What would this mean? How can you apply it? Do some beginner’s mind brainstorming, and don’t reject your crazy ideas. Reflect on them.

Boost Your Mind Power
A great way to build prosperity mind power is to continually feed your mind new ideas and concepts. Get onto the cutting edge of your field of interest. In our rapidly exploding information age, knowledge is the key to success.

The interesting thing about building up your knowledge in your field is this: The more you know, the more competent you will become.

And the more competent you become, the greater your sense of self-esteem and confidence. This equals increased personal power the sure mark of an achiever on the road to prosperity.

BUT many very successful people insist it’s equally important to read and study totally outside your field. Read a comic book. Watch a garden program on TV. Go to a horse race. Challenge your mind to grow and expand. Bill Gates plays chess and bridge.

Be Willing to Cut Your Losses
According to the American Management Association, at least 70% of the decisions we make regarding our lives and our businesses or professions will turn out to be wrong in the long run.

So how is it that some people still manage to end up so prosperous? The answer is simple. Those who rise to the top in life are willing to cut their losses if a decision proves wrong. They are willing to admit they made a mistake, and move onto a new path.

To rise to the top in your own life, develop the skill of looking carefully at your decisions. If new information or results light proves your decision isn’t working, be willing to abandon it and try something different. There’s no sense kicking a dead horse, after all. The horse won’t get up and pull your cart, and you’ll just bruise your toes.

Your Most Valuable Asset
The greatest source of wealth you have is right there in your skull. And remember that modern neuroscience has now proven that our brains never cease to grow and change regardless of our age.

What you need to become truly prosperous is a flexible, active, creative brain and the courage to commit to your ideas.

Since there is virtually no limit on the knowledge you can acquire, and the creativity you can develop, why not just go for it?

What you have between your ears is far more valuable than your bank account. Money is always out there looking for ideas. Your personal ability to build your brainpower, and unlock your creativity, is the true key to prosperity. Period.

Tap Into Your Authentic Power

whatif

If you are like 99 percent of the people in the world today you are likely feeling a bit anxious about the worldwide economic crisis.Yes, there is a problem at hand. And yes, many people are already suffering from some very harsh realities, and see more coming like a freight train racing down the tracks straight at them. This cannot be denied.

What Can We Do?
Well obviously as individuals, we cannot reach out and change the world economic situation. But what we CAN do is reach within ourselves and tap into our own inner power our own personal strength, wisdom and resilience.

There is at least one inherent benefit of challenging times we are forced to discover what we are made of what we value what we need, and what we can do without. In short, we are forced to discover who we really are.

Something to Consider
No matter what your age, there’s something you might want to think about: Your ancestors maybe your parents, and most certainly your grandparents and their parents were outrageously tough survivors.

They came through wars that tore the world apart and devastated families, yet they survived. And they came through the Great Depression my Mother remembered having only one dress, yet they survived.

YOU are already tough at your very core – you carry the genes of these survivors. Plus you yourself have already survived one blow after another in your life disappointments, broken heart, rejection on one level or another, perhaps lack of appreciation. As a result, you too have that mental toughness and ability to heal and go forward inside you.

An Immediate Solution
So how can we best handle what’s going on around us? We need to tap into our own individual authentic power. Authentic power arises strictly from within YOU. It is an expression of YOUR personal will. And it ultimately depends on your ability to trust your own instincts and hunches.

This is no time to feel powerless or anxious. You have authentic power wired into your brain’s motivational system. This internal power gives you the ability to face adversity straight on…to blast past fear and take action, and then to adjust that action whenever necessary.

Your authentic power is your source of feeling in command of your own self. And when you come down to it who else is really in command of you?

Authentic power wells up from within, and it seldom appears full-blown early in life. Rather, it is an outcome of our ability to integrate our experiences in such a way that adversity in particular is incorporated into our process of personal growth and expansion.

Authentic power is built through vigorous participation in life through openness to new experiences through strong ties to other people and most of all, through your ability to construct a sense of security and meaning in your life in the face of challenge and adversity.

A Plan of Action
How to create a sense of authentic power? Start right here, in the present moment. Right here and now IS your true power point. Don’t focus on the past – you can’t do anything about it. And the present just is NOT here yet.

Focus on the moment and give thanks for what is OK right now you are obviously warm, dry, fed, and sitting in a save place by your computer. Now stretch forward to create the next moment from that place of safety and strength.

Life really IS lived one minute at a time, and problems are solved one decision and action at a time and THAT is where your authentic power lies. The truth is you really ARE in control.

The above insights are typical of those found in the author’s remarkable personal power ecourse.
